July 25-26th: Sixmile Creek  (INCLUDES AFTERNOON BREAK FOR SIXMILE FEST RACE EVENTS!)

August 1-2nd: Willow Creek &/or Matanuska

This course is for Level 2 graduates, those with previous whitewater packrafting experience wanting to strengthen paddle skills, body mechanics & boat control in class III whitewater.

Participants MUST have formal river safety training & have prior experience reading and paddling up to class III whitewater with adequate boat control. This course builds on the Level 2 course content, with less time spend on river rescue scenarios & more time refining boat control, personal paddle skills & integrating video analysis.

July 25-26th Schedule:

DAY 1: 8-11am: Flatwater session @ Sixmile's 3rd canyon takeout pond.  We'll review & fine-tune our paddle strokes & rehearse self/group rescue scenarios before hitting the river.

11am-2pm: BREAK for Lunch/Sixmile Extreme race.  Have you ever witnessed the Sixmile Creek Festival's extreme race series!?  It's happening THIS weekend!  Imagine 100 packrafters mass start racing through the 1st canyon on Sixmile Creek.  It's a sight to see... or participate in yourself?  Your call.  The race is NOT an APS event, but we'll be moving our classroom venue to the 1st canyon bridge area if anyone is interested in spectating, participating or helping with safety in the Festival shenanigans.  Once the race series is over, we'll move downstream to the Canyon Creek put-in to finish our afternoon session

2pm-5:30pm: We'll refine catching eddies, ferrying and begin making harder moves in river environments we are comfortable in.  Instructors assess appropriate venue & objectives for following day based on today's assessment, your individual needs & overall group ability.

DAY 2: We are here to help you gain the knowledge & skills you want!  An exact curriculum isn't listed here- this varies highly on instructor discretion regarding optimal growth areas (where you can get the most bang for your buck & best use your time) as well as your personal packrafting goals.  Instructor integrates participant feedback/requests & will assign the best venue according to group desires/needs, but we will spend time with video analysis (Jule recording specific paddle strokes- you live & "in action") - this is by far one of the best tools to level up your paddle skills!

August 1-2 Schedule:

DAY 1: 9-12pm: Flatwater session @ Nancy Lake Public Boat Launch. We'll review & fine-tune our paddle strokes & rehearse self/group rescue scenarios before hitting the river.

1pm-5pm: Willow Creek's "Red Gate Section."  We'll refine catching eddies, ferrying and begin making harder moves in river environments we are comfortable in.  Instructors assess appropriate venue & objectives for following day based on today's assessment, your individual needs & overall group ability.

DAY 2: 9am-5pm: Willow Creek (Guardrail section if levels are appropriate- fingers crossed, or Matanuska River if Willow levels are too high) We are here to help you gain the knowledge & skills you want!
