The Alaska Packraft Guidebook
1st ever PACKRAFT SPECIFIC WHITEWATER GUIDEBOOK
The Alaska Packraft Guidebook: Premier Rivers & Creeks in the 49th State covers over 70 of the best class I-IV whitewater packraft runs within 1-3 days of length throughout the state. This comprehensive guide includes color maps, photos & detailed content to help plan the ideal trip- whether it’s a road accessible day trip, casual hike or multi-day approach to a new river.
Having over 15 years of Alaska river experience as a whitewater kayaker, packrafter & commercial raft guide, the author carefully considered integral details such as water levels, hike approach, best time of year and all around “worth doing” in regards specifically for paddlers using packrafts. (although other crafts; hardshell canoes/kayaks/large rafts may find some information applicable & of use)
This guidebook includes 9 separate regions, from the Northern Denali area as far south as Seward & the Kenai Peninsula. Alaska is a vast land; it's impossible to include all of the rivers worth doing in this state. Jule targets the most sought after & popular runs for packrafters, primarily in in the state's Southcentral zone. The new Alaska River Forums are under construction; a resource for all users to share current river info & ask local paddlers questions or trip advice.
